Meet Flow - Well-Designed Pomodoro Timer

Just in case you don't know, pomodoro is a method to get into flow by breaking down work sessions into different smaller sessions with quick break in between. The most common one is usually 25 min work session following up with a 5 minutes break, and between every 4 sessions, you take a 30 minutes (or even longer break). This method ensures you could get as much done as possible in each 2 hours blocks while taking proper short breaks, and getting into flows.

Of course, pomodoro timers are flooded in the app store, given its easiness, some made it very complex with other redundant features, some are just simple, a count down clock.

Here I am going to introduce you to Flow, which is available on all Apple devices. However, I am going to focus on the Mac app given it works perfectly with certain useful functions.

First thing first, it has a simple interface in a floating modal, where it's composed of countdown, session indicator and stop button, straight forward.

What's even cooler? It can sit on your menu bar, either as a count down clock, or simple a circular progress indicator for those who get stressed seeing counting-down number. But a two-finger click, you can easily stop & continue the timer, make it super handy to you (and of course, single finger click simply shows and hides the small floating window.)

Here comes my favourtie part, a full screen block for the break sessions, simple & straight forward, plus it's green color, if you can't touch some grass, maybe you can just let the green screen on and do whathever you like in this 5 minutes, I usually play two rounds of brawl stars or scroll X for a bit.

Features mentioned so far are all free! If you would like to sync data across device or simple customise the work & break sessions, they have quite generouse monthly/yearly or lifetime plans.
